The Garden House - commended in The Sunday Times British Home Awards 2014

We are pleased to have been Commended in the Sunday Times UK Property Awards (Larger residential properties over 5000 Sq Feet).

The property awarded is a 6000 sq ft contemporary design, bespoke home set within a prime 3-acre protected plot in the centre of an Area of Townscape Character

The house is located centrally in this existing mature garden. Extensive areas of glazing burr the line between floor finish and lawn. Its long horizontal lines with overhanging flat roofs suit the open feel of this green, flat site.

The wall finishes are smooth, off-white render, natural local stone and horizontal-boarded Ipe timber (pronounced ee-pay - a sustainable Brazilian wood) . The windows are sliding aluminium, framed with Ipe timber located against stone or render. Seamless glazing is employed to open corners.

Internally the focal point is a double-height dining hall with a curving feature staircase. All rooms look out to either the formal garden off the kitchen, ideally positioned for morning sun; or to the main terrace/pool area, which opens out to the extensive lawned gardens.

All bedrooms have en-suites/dressing rooms, and covered balconies. Other accommodation within the house includes a study, cinema room, double carport, triple garage, sunroom, lounge, as well as kitchen, dining, and living space with extensive storage, plant and utility spaces.
