Contemporary Lakeside Home

This contemporary lakeside home has been thoughtfully placed to create a series of moments between the family and the lake their home boarders. The rhythm of the 2 barn like forms and their series of large, glazed openings mimic the natural surrounding and provide expansive views bringing you closer to the outdoors beyond. The materiality was a huge factor in achieving a rustic contemporary feel allowing the project to sit comfortably withing its surroundings. Peterson Clay Covered tiles were used for the roof and the first-floor walls, with Peterson Clay bricks being used on the ground floor and random rubble field stone was used on the approaching spine wall continuing the rustic feel. The natural textures provided by the materials play against the softness of the water and the green fields which encircle the dwelling. Designing BBQ house with a metal roof creates a flow from the ground floor allows for the use of outdoor spaces in all weather conditions, supporting the houses strong relationship with nature.
