Elegant Newbuild with Mountain Views

Set within a large rural plot with panoramic views of the Wicklow Mountains, this newbuild residence reimagines the traditional Irish country house with careful attention to proportion, detail, and landscape. The client’s vision was to create a home that felt timeless and rooted in its setting—simple in form, but rich in atmosphere.

The architecture is defined by its balanced and elegant proportions, drawing inspiration from classical Irish country houses without becoming pastiche. A restrained material palette and crisp detailing give the house a calm, enduring presence. At its heart is a beautifully crafted orangerie—a decorative yet functional space that brings light deep into the plan and creates a graceful connection to the gardens beyond.

To the rear, a covered backdoor canopy provides a sheltered everyday entrance, offering both practicality and charm. Internally, the house is laid out to take full advantage of the surrounding landscape, with key rooms oriented to frame distant views of the hills and natural light brought in throughout the day.

While the design respects tradition, it’s very much a home for contemporary living—well-scaled, comfortable, and deeply connected to its rural setting. The result is a house that feels both grounded and generous, offering a fresh interpretation of classic Irish domestic architecture.
