Modern home with traditional farmstead form

Modern home with traditional farmstead form
Set along a country lane, this 5000 sq ft bespoke home has been constructed to appear as a traditional farmyard. This form provides a sense of security and shelter to the house. The curved end to the study, which runs along the roadside, presents a friendly approach to the home and entrance to the yard.
The projecting porch in the yard is the focal point of the space and is the front door to the home. Although on first appearances this house seems quite traditional, it is in fact quite a contemporary design. The outer face of the house faces south and includes extensive glazing that overlooks the garden and the countryside beyond.
The materials used, white rendered walls and a natural slate roof, fit suitably into the countryside palate. The detail, while traditional, is also clipped and minimal with the use of modern aluminium doors and windows.
